Totems are common in spiritual traditions and found in many different cultures. They represent creation, connections, family and/or cultural ties, stories, roles, responsibilities and relationships, history, important events, legends, and myths.

Traditionally, totems are often inspired by nature and the characteristics of individual animals that man might relate to, see as a spiritual guide, or illustrate certain groups and families' traits.

Totems can also come to be for the sole purpose of being esthetically pleasing.
